Just In: Nets Veteran Key Player Is Traded To the Rockets In Exchange.

A journalist for the NBA suggested that Mikal Bridges be acquired by the Houston Rockets from the Brooklyn Nets this summer.

The following trade proposal was put out by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley for the Rockets and Nets:

The deal: In exchange for Mikal Bridges, the Houston Rockets send Dillon Brooks, Cam Whitmore, the first overall selection, and two future first picks.

NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium claims that the Rockets attempted to get Bridges this season by trading Jalen Green to the Nets.

This year, Brooklyn and Houston were both left out of the playoffs.

“Phase 2 of the Rockets rebuild was successful despite their failure to advance to the Play-In Tournament,” wrote Buckley. Their victory total increased by 19 (from 22 to 41), their defense improved from horrible (ranked 29th in 2022-23) to above-average (10th), and they witnessed significant advancements from Jabari Smith Jr., Jalen Green, and Alperen \engün, three building block prospects.

“Is that persuading the front office that phase 3 should begin now? Houston has made a bid to acquire Bridges, so it’s obvious that they want to add more skill to the roster. And even though those early attempts were in vain, perhaps the inclusion of the top choice in its offer will make a difference.

“Remember that the Rockets, who also hold Brooklyn’s 2026 selection and own swap rights for 2027, are in a unique position to grant the Nets authority over their own selections. For Bridges, a 27-year-old who may have peaked just one or two steps short of stardom, it seems like a significant haul.

With the Phoenix Suns and Nets, Bridges has averaged 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists over his career. His choice in the 2018 NBA Draft was number ten overall.
