Спешно: Току-що! Исторически момент на Уимбълдън – Димитров влиза в осминафинал с 100-та победа на турнир от Големия шлем

Breaking; Just Now, Wimbledon Milestone: Dimitrov Cruises Into Last 16 With 100th Grand Slam Win

Grigor Dimitrov marked a historic milestone on Saturday afternoon, powering into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the fifth time in his career with a straight-sets win over Austria’s Sebastian Ofner. The 19th seed triumphed 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) at the All England Club, collecting his 100th career Grand Slam match victory in the process.

The 34-year-old Bulgarian was in sublime form on Court 1, firing 14 aces and winning a staggering 80% of points on his first serve. Dimitrov wrapped up the contest in style with a clinical performance in the third-set tiebreak, underlining his reputation as one of the most dangerous grass-court players on the tour.

“This is a very special moment for me,” said Dimitrov after the match. “To get my 100th win at a Slam, and to do it here at Wimbledon, a place that feels like home, is something I’ll never forget.”

The victory continues Dimitrov’s impressive run this season, as he has now reached the fourth round at 16 different Grand Slam events in his career. At Wimbledon alone, he has reached the last 16 five times, including in each of the past three editions.

Road to the Last 16

Dimitrov’s Wimbledon campaign has been nothing short of commanding so far. He opened his tournament with a dominant straight-sets win over Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka (6-2, 6-3, 6-4) before surviving a tough four-set battle against France’s Corentin Moutet (7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5) in the second round. Against Ofner, ranked World No 165, Dimitrov showcased his experience and big-match temperament, never allowing the Austrian to gain momentum despite Ofner’s spirited fight in the third set.

Ofner, for his part, had enjoyed a surprise run to the third round. He advanced past Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic after the latter retired mid-match and stunned 13th seed Tommy Paul of the United States in a four-set thriller (1-6, 7-5, 6-4, 7-5).

Sinner Awaits

In the round of 16, Dimitrov will face a stern test against World No 1 and tournament top seed Jannik Sinner. The Italian has been in scintillating form and will pose a significant challenge as Dimitrov looks to reach his third Wimbledon quarterfinal and first since 2017.

“It will be a huge match,” Dimitrov admitted. “Jannik is playing amazing tennis, but I’m feeling good and ready to give it everything.”

As Wimbledon heads into its second week, Dimitrov’s blend of experience, elegance, and power has once again made him a player to watch. With 100 Grand Slam wins now under his belt, could a deep run on the grass courts of SW19 be on the horizon?
